In dit vorige bericht hadden we het al over films converteren met HandBrake. HandBrake kan evenwel ook een DVD als ‘source’ zien. Zo kan je dus de filmbestanden van een DVD afhalen om ze te gebruiken in een Keynote of PowerPoint, een iMovie-project of wat je maar kan bedenken.

De werkwijze is gelijkend met de vorige, enkel heb je hier nog de extra mogelijkheid om ondertitels toe te voegen (als die op de DVD staan tenminste!)

Een tweede verschil is dat je op een DVD steeds meerdere filmbestanden (Titles) terugvindt. Dit kunnen menu’s, extra’s, … zijn. Je moet dus zeker de juiste ‘title’ kiezen, meestal is dit de langste.
Als je vooraf weet dat je maar een bepaald fragment nodig hebt, kan je de conversietijd aardig verminderen door enkel dat hoofdstuk of dat fragment te laten converteren.

The workflow is similar to the one used in the previous post, but now you can also get subtitles on your video (if they are on the DVD!)

A second difference is that you will find several video files (Titles) on your DVD. These can be menus, bonuses, … Therefore make sure you pick the right title. Most of the time this will be the longest.
If you already know that you will only need a small fragment of the film, you can now choose which chapters are ripped.
